Joseph Clark is an historian of film and visual culture, specializing in the history of documentary, newsreel, and non-theatrical films in the United States and Canada. He is the author of the book, News Parade: The American Newsreel and the World as Spectacle, published in 2020 by University of Minnesota Press. His new research focuses on forestry in Canada and the role that government and industrial filmmaking have played in resource extraction and environmental destruction. He is a Lecturer in film studies in the School for the Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University and has previously taught in Cinema Studies and American Studies at Colby College and Franklin and Marshall College.
